Community of 24 villages across seven forest areas totalling 119,000 ha. Community objectives include acquiring solid and reliable information on the bonobo habitat and the extent of human pressure on bonobos with a view to establishing participatory and effective conservation; restoring deforested and degraded areas in the Basankusu and Bolomba territories; combating poverty in order to reduce pressure on wildlife, particularly bonobos and their habitats; and promoting a community that is aware, informed and educated about environmental issues and self-reliance. *Concession renewal underway
